Marine Radio Operator Permit

The Marine Radio Operator Permit (MROP) is required to operate a radiotelephone aboard certain vessels on the Great Lakes, Coastal Waters, and Open Seas.

 

The MROP – Marine Radio Operator Permit (MP) is required to operate radiotelephone stations aboard vessels of more than 300 gross tons and vessels that carry more than six passengers for hire in the open sea or any tidewater area of the United States. MPs enable the holder to operate radiotelephone stations aboard certain vessels that sail the Great Lakes, certain aviation radiotelephone stations, and certain coast radiotelephone stations.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Upon successful approval of the applicant’s license with the FCC, applicants will receive an email from the FCC. The applicant will have 10 days to pay the FCC an issuance fee ($35 for most applications) to finalize their license, per the instructions in the FCC’s email.
