This course provides the additional training required to pursue a USCG Master credential.

Already hold a Six-Pack Captains license? You can take this course to upgrade your credential and pursue a Master license, allowing you to serve as captain of certain USCG-inspected passenger vessels, subject to the tonnage, route, and other limitations shown on your credential.

While a Six-Pack Captains license is generally used for carrying up to six passengers for hire on uninspected passenger vessels, a Master credential can open the door to additional professional opportunities aboard inspected vessels authorized to carry more than six passengers.

The Master Upgrade course builds upon the knowledge covered in the Six-Pack Captains class curriculum and focuses on the additional subjects required at the Master level.

Earning your Master credential can be a valuable next step for captains interested in expanding beyond traditional six-passenger charter operations and pursuing a wider range of commercial passenger-vessel opportunities.

About the Class

Do you want to upgrade your license to 100 Ton Masters License? A Master’s License is the highest-level license and is required if you operate inspected vessels. Inspected vessels can carry more than 6 passengers. To become inspected, the vessel must be built in accordance with rigid USCG Commercial Vessel Inspection standards. This license allows you to operate both inspected vessels (such as inland ferry boats, harbor tours boats, water taxi or dive boat) and uninspected vessels (less than six passengers).
